Star Sports, the official ICC World Cup broadcaster released a promo video on Friday featuring Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam as a member of the exclusive ‘Fab 5’ players.
The late New Zealand cricket great Martin Crowe popularized this term to describe a select group of legendary international batters who had ruled the cricketing world for decades.

The promotional film provides an enticing look into the 2017 ICC World Cup, which is shaping up to be an exciting competition that will test players’ abilities, strategies, and sportsmanship. The fact that Babar Azam has been selected as one of the Fab 5 not only serves to highlight the amazing performances he has turned in, but it also demonstrates the rising influence and impact he has had on the game.
It is important to point out that Babar Azam is now ranked first in the ICC men’s rankings for batters in ODI cricket. These rankings are kept by the International Cricket Council. In 106 one-day internationals, the skipper of Pakistan has amassed 5370 runs, including 19 hundreds and 28 fifties. His career average of 59.01 is rather impressive for someone of his caliber.
The One-Day International World Cup is set to take place in India during the dates of October 5 and November 19, 2023.
