Exciting news for cricket fans everywhere: the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has agreed to arrange a reserve day for the September 10 match between Pakistan and India.
The Asia Cup only has one match with a reserve day, and it’s Pakistan vs. India.
Friday, the PCB released a statement saying, “A reserve day has been incorporated for the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4’s match between Pakistan and India, scheduled to take place on 10th September 2023 at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.”
The PCB has objected multiple times, asking that a reserve day be designated for the high-stakes encounter between the archrivals due to the present weather in Colombo, Sri Lanka, where the remaining matches of the Asia Cup 2023 are planned to take place.
They were concerned about the weather prediction and the game being rescheduled, after the previous encounter between the two teams had to be postponed due to rain on September 2.
There is a 90% probability of rain on Sunday, which might significantly affect the outcome of the forthcoming match.
Reserve Day For Pakistan vs India Asia Cup 2023
Despite PCB’s concerns, the ACC went ahead and set aside a day. The backup date (September 11) for Babar Azam‘s and Rohit Shrama’s match on September 10 has been scheduled.
The contest will resume on September 11 if it isn’t finished before then. We’ll pick up right where we left off when the contest resumes.
“If adverse weather suspends play during the Pakistan vs. India game, the match will be continued on 11th September 2023 from the point at which it was suspended,” the statement said.
It went on to say, “In such an eventuality, ticket holders are advised to retain their match tickets, which will remain valid and be utilized for the reserve day.”
India has already committed to playing Sri Lanka on September 12, so if the match goes to the reserve day, it would have to play two consecutive matches in a row.
