Najam Sethi resigns as PCB chairman with immediate effect, as he decided not to be part of the game plan of PM Shehbaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari.
He has withdrawn himself from the race for the next Pakistan Cricket Board chairman, as he was interim and replaced Ramiz Raja.
Ever since Najam Sethi returned as chairman he has done several important things for the cricket board. Especially for the Asia Cup 2023, despite BCCI’s dominance he didn’t stop and proposed Hybrid Model to ACC to keep the hope alive.
And his efforts paid off after all. But his departure from the PCB might affect, due to political citing he decided to leave the chairperson seat once and for all.
Najam Sethi Resigns As PCB Chairman
The 75-year-old journalist turned into a cricket administrator on Monday evening announced that he withdraw himself from the race for next Pakistan Cricket Board chairman.
He highlighted the two ruling political parties’ plan that he doesn’t want to be part of it at all.
He stated, he does not want to “be a bone of contention between Asif Zardari and Shehbaz Sharif,” and that the conflict’s instability and uncertainty are bad for the PCB.

He wrote, “Salaam everyone! I don’t want to be a bone of contention between Asif Ali Zardari and Shehbaz Sharif. Such instability and uncertainty are not good for PCB. Under the circumstances, I am not a candidate for the Chairmanship of PCB. Good luck to all stakeholders.”
The moment he tweeted, netizens jumped in and supported his decision.
Big Decisions Najam Made
Najam Sethi returned as chairman and replaced Ramiz Raja in December last year, his term was set to expire on June 21. He appeared to be the favorite to continue and be appointed chairman once the interim set-up ended.
Najam Sethi didn’t hesitate to confront BCCI during Asia Cup 2023 venue saga. He kept Ramiz Raja’s statement and refused to travel for the ICC World Cup 2023.
His hybrid model after all India accepted the hybrid model with the interference of the ICC.
So, who’s going to be the next chairman of PCB? Zaka Ashraf had a great history with Najam Sethi whenever it comes to the PCB chairman race. With the withdrawal of Sethi, Zaka’s chance has grown higher than expected.
