Batters from three continents have been named as finalists for the ICC T20I Player Of The Year Nominees award. We look at their exploits in this section.
ICC T20I Player Of The Year Nominees
Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batter, has been nominated for the ICC T20I player of the year award. Rizwan joins India’s middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav, England’s all-rounder Sam Curran, and Zimbabwe’s explosive all-rounder Sikandar Raza in the squad.
As the ICC announced batsman of the month players, Mohammad Rizwan was named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for September 2022 for his memorable performances in previous T20 matches.
Rizwan had a fantastic year in T20Is, finishing as the second-highest run-scorer in the game’s shortest format in 2022. In 25 innings, Rizwan scored 996 runs at an average of 45.27 and a strike rate of 122.96. He has a total of ten half-centuries and was also an excellent fielder. He struck out 12 hitters, took nine catches, and had three stumpings.
Rizwan’s total of 996 runs was only surpassed by Suryakumar Yadav, an Indian middle-order master who was exceptional with the bat in 2022. Suryakumar scored 1,164 runs in 31 T20I innings at an average of 46.56 and a strike rate of 187.43. He also hit the most sixes in T20I cricket this year, with 68.
Sam Curran, an English all-rounder, was the highlight of the 2022 T20 World Cup. He was named the tournament’s player of the tournament after leading England to their second T20 World Championship. Curran took 25 wickets in 19 innings in 2022, with an average of 21.08 and an economy rate of 7.56. Thirteen of his 25 wickets came in the T20 World Cup.
Sikandar Raza of Zimbabwe had a fantastic year with the ball and bat. His efforts enabled Zimbabwe to advance to the T20 World Cup Super 12s, and as a result, he was able to sign contracts with the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and Indian Premier League (IPL). In 24 games in 2022, Raza racked up 735 runs and 25 wickets.
