The world is becoming the den of dangerous viruses, first came Covid-19 and now its new version the Delta Virus is here. It’s been more than a year since we are facing Covid-19 but we haven’t had much luck except for inventing vaccines as a protective shield from it.
Countries like Pakistan and India are trying their best to control Coronavirus but fighting the Delta Virus is harder than before. It enters the human body and damages organs faster than the previous variant.
Delta Virus cases were highlighted first in India, that sabotaged the Indian citizens badly.
The Covid-Delta Virus is more lethal and dangerous than the coronavirus. People in Pakistan believed that they would be safe from the Delta virus, but guess what we are now under its severe outburst.
But what exactly is Delta Virus? When did the first variant of the Delta Virus arrive in Pakistan? And what are the symptoms of it? There’s a lot of information being circulated about it so let’s just take a look at the actual facts about it.
“Delta Virus” Covid Variant: Everyone Should Be Aware of It
One of the most important things that everyone needs to know is that the Delta Virus is more contagious than any other viruses. Delta Virus is a name for the B.1.617.2. The variant is of SARS-CoV-2, and it was first identified last year in December. India and Great Britain were the first two countries to report cases of this specific virus.
As mentioned, India faced an intense wave of the Delta Virus and the first case appeared in Rajasthan in March. As per the World Health Organization (WHO), the virus is “the fastest and fittest.”
It is the most dominant virus at the moment and has spread over 90 countries including Russia, Israel, Singapore, and more.
The transmission of the Delta Virus is much faster and life-threatening than Covid-19. Scientists say that one of the biggest risks with the Delta Virus is that the unvaccinated people are at a higher risk of getting affected.
According to Dr. Yildirim, “A recent study from the United Kingdom showed that children and adults under 50 were 2.5 times more likely to become infected with Delta Virus.”
Further added, “As older age groups get vaccinated, those who are younger and unvaccinated will be at higher risk of getting COVID-19 with any variant,” “But Delta seems to be impacting younger age groups more than previous variants.”
Symptoms of the Delta Virus
Coming to the symptoms, that everyone should be aware of and take full precautions. Delta Virus has different symptoms as compared to Covid-19.
According to Dr. George Monks, “The delta variant has slightly different symptoms compared to the original virus. You may not get the loss of taste & smell.
The delta variant could cause issues like a cough, shortness of breath, a fever, body aches, congestion, and more. Please get tested if you have these.”
Pakistan And The Battle With Delta Virus
In Pakistan, since May corona cases raised like a whole rally that destroyed the control over the cases. Both Covid-19, the Delta Virus paired up with it and raised the fourth wave.
Many health experts believe that the fourth wave happened because the Delta Virus variants that appeared were carried by Pakistanis and transmitted within cities.
Prime Minister Imran Khan already warned the citizens about the damage of the Delta Virus and the fourth wane of Covid that it’s causing.
Delta Virus is affecting unvaccinated people rapidly and spreads to the other person in no time. People need to get vaccinated as soon as possible as this is the only way to control its transmission.
Delta Virus is still a mysterious virus because there is much more information that scientists and the whole world need to know about it. Knowing its symptoms, speed of transmission, and knowing its impact on the people who contract it, is not very helpful for people to realize how fatal the Delta Virus is.
So far there is only one way to protect yourself from the Delta Virus which is; get vaccinated, wear masks and even double masks when necessary, keep yourself and especially your hands sanitized, and maintain a social distance of at least six feet from outsiders.
