In an effort to strengthen its security measures, WhatsApp recently released a Privacy Checkup feature on Android and iOS devices.
While announcing the new Privacy Checkup feature, Meta wrote, “This step-by-step feature guides you through important privacy settings to help you decide what level of protection is right for you.”. When you select ‘Start checkup’ in your privacy settings, you will be guided through multiple privacy layers that strengthen the security of your messages, calls, and personal information.”
Privacy Checkup “allows you to access step-by-step guidance to help strengthen the security of your account and customize your privacy settings all in one place,” according to a page outlining the new function.
How can one utilize a privacy checkup on a phone?
If you are using an Android or iOS device, open WhatsApp and go to the settings menu. A banner will now appear at the top of the screen, inviting you to begin the privacy checkup. To adjust the privacy settings, click on the specific option. Privacy Checkup allows you to adjust the following settings:
1: Decide Who is Able to Reach You
It is possible for users to control who can contact them and stop unwanted calls and messages. Additionally, they can manage blocked contacts, silence unknown callers, and change who can add them to groups.
Personal information such as online status and activity can be shared with the audience of your choice. In addition, they have the ability to manage read receipts, restrict who can view their online status and last seen, and choose who can see their profile photo.
2: The Standard Message Timer
By controlling their end-to-end encrypted backups and default message timer, users can limit access to their files and messages.
3: Fingerprint security
By using two-step verification and a fingerprint lock, WhatsApp users can further secure their accounts.
