Toyota Pakistan has launched the new Corolla Cross SUV, which is based on the Japanese automaker’s popular sedan. The Corolla sedan is claimed to be the bestselling Toyota car across the world, launched in 1966. The sedan has sold more than 48 million units so far in 150 countries across the world since the introduction. The Toyota Corolla Cross SUV released globally in December 2020. Toyota Corolla Cross SUV has a 4th Generation Hybrid Engine along with turning radius of 5.2.
The Corolla Cross is a subcompact crossover SUV. It competes with other compact crossover SUVs such as Honda Vezel/BR-V, the Nissan Juke, and the Toyota C-HR. According to reports, Toyota Cross will be offered in Pakistan in three variants, the details of which are yet to be disclosed. Here are some of the details of Toyota Corolla Cross SUV:
Car Specifications
The Toyota Cross comprises of three different variants. All the variants feature a 1.8-litre, 4-cylinder hybrid petrol engine. The capacity of the engine is 1798cc. It produces 305 Nm torque at 3600 RPM and 168hp at 3600 RPM. Toyota Cross offers direct shift CVT transmission.
The vehicle also comprises of McPherson strut suspension in the front. Moreover, it has torsion bar coil-spring suspension at the back. When it comes to the brakes of Toyota Corolla Cross SUV, the vehicle’s front comprises of ventilated discs with solid discs at the back, an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and Brake Assist (BA) Technology.
Built on the carmaker’s TNGA platform, the Toyota Corolla Cross comes with a look, similar to the RAV4. It gets LED headlamps, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights etc. The glossy black front grille of Toyota Corolla Cross is surrounded by LED projector headlamps that also have LED DRLs. There are LED taillamps and LED high-mount stop lamp at the rear. Also available are features like roof rails, shark fin antenna and 17-inch alloy wheels. The cabin boasts of features like 6-way power driver seat, dual-zone climate control, multi-function speed sensing electric power steering wheel with audio and MID controls, 7-inch MID with advanced controls and 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Mira Cast.
Dimensions
The Corolla Cross is a B-segment SUV comprising of Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, again, same as C-HR. If measured effectively, Toyota Corolla Cross SUV is 4460mm long, 1825 wide while 1620mm tall. The wheelbase measures 2640mm long.
Safety
Toyota Corolla Cross has 7 airbags. This includes driver, side, curtains, passenger and drive knee in the high-priced variant. On the contrary, the low-priced variant has dual airbags.
All versions of the SUV will have ABS, VSC and also Hill-start assist. Electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) along with brake assist is also included. The car also has an immobilizer. is standard. The base model has two rear parking sensors while Mid & High will get front parking sensors as well.
Interior
The Top and Mid-Tier variant of Toyota Corolla Cross SUV comprises of an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Terra Rossa Interior Leather & Seats (More Premium than black interior), Dual-Zone Climate Control, Powered Back Door with Kick Sensor (Dual Way to program, through MID as well), Manual Head Lamp Levelling and rear AC vents.
On the other hand, the low-end variant comprises of fabric seats, a basic audio system with CD/BT as well as Single-Zone Auto climate control. However, it does not have any AC vents for the rear seats.
Price
The cars are going to be Completely Built Units (CBUs) imported by Indus Motors Pakistan. The reported price of the three variants will be Rs7,689,000, Rs8,199,000, and Rs8,399,000, respectively.
