Fiza Farhan From Pakistan Made it to Forbes List of Young Social Entrepreneurs

The eminent US-based magazine Forbes has included the name of Pakistani girl Fiza Farhan, in its list of 30 under 30 social entrepreneurs for the year 2015.

Fiza Farhan is 28 years old. She is the co-founder of the Buksh Foundation.

Since 2009, Buksh Foundation has been operating in Pakistan. Buksh Foundation is a microfinance institution that takes clean energy projects to the underprivileged and rural areas of Pakistan.

The institution has brought solar-powered lights to around 6750 households all across Pakistan. It has also trained 135 women as energy entrepreneurs.

The loans for business and clean energy have been provided to around 12,000 entrepreneurs by Buksh Foundation.

Last year, the CEO of Buksh Foundation and the Director of Buksh Energy, Fiza Farhan was also nominated by the World Energy Council as the ‘Future Energy Leader’.

The Buksh group started its business in the 1950s with a departmental store chain. Over the period of time, the group grew and it has now reached the third generation. It has branched out into lifestyle brands. Buksh Foundation and Buksh Energy are a part of the Buksh group.

Fiza Farhan is the 4th Pakistani woman who has been included in the Forbes list of young entrepreneurs, movers and game-changers.

Forbes included the name of another girl from Pakistan, Shiza Shahid (24-year-old) in the list of 30 under 30 social entrepreneurs. She is the co-founder of the Malala Fund. Shiza Shahid assisted in overseeing Malala Yousafzai’s medical care in London after she was shot by the Taliban.
