British High Commissioner to Pakistan and digital diplomat, Dr. Christian Turner, tweeted some words in the praise of Atif Aslam’s Tajdar-e-Haram, and we are immensely proud. We are, in fact, greatly indebted to Coke Studio Season 8 for feasting our ears with such a beauty.
Thank you! https://t.co/V8QaaxkxJV

Over Millions of Views
Tajdar-e-Haram which has millions of views now becomes the choice of a digital diplomat – it is exhilarating. It shows how the qalaam doesn’t restrict to a native ear but is profound for foreigners just the same, and we are quite satisfied with the representation.
Ramadam select
Exclusively every Ramadan Tajdar-e-Haram becomes a personal favorite to quite a many. Is it because it ignites the love for the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) all over again? Ignites our will to unite with our beloved Prophet S.A.W.W at his roza muabarak in Medinah? Many reasons. We can’t argue on Atif Aslam’s beautiful vocals to be spell-bounding particular in this one as those who hear it once can’t help but put it on repeat. It echoes in the soul. Christian Turner is one of them now as he tweeted yesterday about Tajdar-e-haram being his favorite now. Who would have thought?
Famous all over the world
A colleague suggested this qalaam to the commissioner when somebody insisted on him getting to know Pakistani music. There’s no doubt, Pakistan’s culture is rich with music and people know about our songs far from our borders. It was then that this particular pick became the commissioner’s choice once he heard the qalaam and went on to appreciate Atif Aslam publicly. Upon that request, his colleague without a second thought in his mind referred to Atif Aslam’s Tajdar-e-Haram and that should say it all.
Of course, people would pick Tajdar-e-Haram over anything else, as it is not just a comfort to the heart but enlightenment to the soul. It scratches off the lost desire to meet with our beloved Prophet (PBUH) – the desire held earnestly by His followers.
The original
Many of the millennials aren’t aware of the fact that Tajdar-e-Haram was originally sung by Sabri Brothers. Parents of these millennials with a good taste of the music are often correcting and informing their children that there was a time radios reverberated with the beautiful qalaam and people nodded along to it. Atif Aslam’s take on the qalaam is slightly different – less melancholic and more encouragingly inspiring.
The older version has a note of pain and hurt for longing to meet the Prophet beloved (PBUH) and we all resonate with the sentiment.
I think anything sung from the heart possesses the ability to cross borders, reach hearts, and spellbound minds. Tajdar-e-Haram is one of them. And Christian Turner’s recognition further adds another feather in the hat.
Atif Aslam’s Response
In response, we saw Atif Aslam thanking the British commissioner. Well, who wouldn’t be enthralled by international recognition and support? Atif Aslam doesn’t any longer for the favor given the amount of following he currently has but out of his humbleness, he retweeted the post by thanking the digital diplomat for the support.
