The political world is as capricious and vulnerable as it can get. From controversial statements to conspiracies, the story leaps from one angle to another. It is quite astonishing to see how politicians keep changing direction from one narrative to another.
Prime Minister Imran Khan calls Osama Bin Laden ‘Shaheed’
However, as many blunders there may be, we surely don’t hope to see one from our beloved Prime Minister Imran Khan who has always been resilient and confident of what he says.
In a recent session in the National Assembly, it seems the Prime Minister Imran Khan made a small – yet controversial blunder. He started his speech by pointing out the problematic relationship that Pakistan has had with the USA. During his speech, he mentioned that Osama Bin Laden was martyred!
Uh-oh, what can be seen as a slip of tongue, or is there more to the story than we think? Regardless, this statement isn’t going to abode well with the Twitterati. Hence, a debate has already begun and Pakistan is divided amongst two narratives one supporting the statement; while the rest latter.

Like always Twitter is stormed with tweets that are calling the Prime Minister out on his rather crude statement. In a matter of minutes, the most trending hashtags on Twitter have been of Osama Bin Laden.
What actually happened?
Osama Bin Laden was a tribal leader who was also the mastermind of the 9/11 incident that shook the world. However, in the end, he was assassinated by a troop of American soldiers who entered Pakistan and took his body with them. Although, Imran Khan has avoided answering whether he thinks Osama Bin Laden was a terrorist or not? Although, this raises a lot more questions.
Do you consider Usama Bin Laden a terrorist ?

However, there is another side of the picture that has to be seen. Noted that Prime Minister Imran Khan might have said ‘Shaheed’ for Osama Bin Laden, who is labeled a terrorist, but the most important aspect that is being overshadowed by the ‘shaheed’ statement is how he was bringing into notice the irony and hypocrisy of United States of America.
The political world has always been havoc, to say the least. And Pakistanis after having so many bad experiences after voting for the wrong political party tend to be over skeptic and make sure that they call every wrong step of the government out. Hence it is understandable to see the nation yet divided again on two contradictory statements. One supporting the clause of Imran Khan calling Osama Bin Laden a ‘Shaheed’, while others reject the narrative completely.
As a whole, if you look at the statement from a third perspective, you realize, what Prime Minister Imran Khan was actually trying to say. Maybe it is time that we start focusing on the actual bigger picture rather than the small aspects of the portrait. It is through it we can work more constructively and positively as a nation.
