Rawalpindi Police has established a new school for transgender people, a first-of-its-kind project in Pakistan. The unique classes are held in Liaquat Bagh’s Islamia Higher Secondary School.
According to a Rawalpindi Police spokeswoman, the district administration and education department are both actively supporting this educational program. The school currently has 52 transgender students enrolled.
The school’s principal purpose is to ensure that transgender people have access to their fundamental right to an education. Aside from the school, the Rawalpindi Police Department has also built Pakistan’s first transgender protection center. This program has successfully given over 100 transgender people with jobs and dignified work prospects.

The Rawalpindi Police Department’s dedication to providing regular education sessions for transgender people sets a good example for other institutions and communities in Pakistan.
