In a surprising turn of events, actress Mawra Hussain has spoken out in support of Shah Mahmood Qureshi, a leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), who recently faced a controversial arrest involving alleged physical force.
Qureshi is currently facing charges related to the events of May 9, and just yesterday, the Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi issued a confinement order against him.
Today, Qureshi was arrested by ARS Bazaar Police and Sadar Police, following a 15-day house arrest order.
During the arrest, the former Foreign Minister reportedly refused to cooperate, leading the police to use force.
The incident sparked criticism on social media, with renowned Pakistani actress Mawra Hussain expressing her disapproval. Despite not aligning with any political party, she emphasized that such actions highlight systemic issues.
Mawra Hussain emphasized the unacceptability of subjecting someone who represented Pakistan internationally to such treatment.
According to the police, the confinement orders are linked to the investigation into the events of May 9.
Qureshi, maintaining his innocence, alleges unjust arrest and political victimization.
While the Supreme Court granted Shah Mehmood Qureshi bail in the Cipher case, he remains in custody, raising concerns about the nexus between politics and law enforcement in Pakistan.
