In a significant legal development, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have been sentenced to seven years in jail by Senior Civil Judge Qudratullah. The verdict stems from an illegal nikah case, wherein their marriage during Bushra Bibi’s iddat after her divorce from Khawar Maneka was declared against Shariah. Both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were fined Rs500,000 each. The decision was delivered at Adiala Jail, where Imran Khan is already serving a sentence in Toshakhana and cipher cases. The court proceedings, lasting 14 hours, included cross-examinations of key witnesses and the presentation of final arguments by legal teams. The complexity of the case led to the reserved decision by Senior Judge Qudratullah.
