Personal Life:
Hareem Farooq was born in the capital city on 26th May 1992. However, her family moved to Karachi while she was in her early years. She completed her schooling at the prestigious Karachi Grammar School. Hareem does not have a showbiz background. Both her parents are doctors. Her mother is a dermatologist, while her father is a Ph.D. in public health services. Her parents have always been very supportive of Hareem’s choices in life. However, they always maintained that she must complete her graduation before she pursues her dreams. Hence, Hareem graduated from Quaid-e-Azam University, completing her BA in Sociology and Journalism.
Career:
Hareem paved her way to the big screen after a lot of hard work and commitment. She started her career in theatre. Hareem asserts that theatre taught her the most about acting. In 2012, she played the role of Fatima Jinnah in the play Pawnay 14 August, written by the legendary Anwer Maqsood. She also aced the role of Jehan Ara, originally played by Bushra Ansari, in the rendition of the famous play, Angan Terha. Hareem’s stunning performances did not go unnoticed. The following year, she got the lead role in a horror thriller movie, Siyaah. However, it was 2014 when she made her debut on the silver screen. She played the lead role in the drama Mausam, which aired on Hum TV alongside Ahsan Khan and Yumna Zaidi. The same year, she gave another blockbuster drama, Dusri Biwi, paired with Fahad Mustafa. She showed her acting skills in the drama, Mere Humdum Mere Dost, in which she played the negative role.
However, the drama that got Hareem to the pinnacle of success was Diyar-e-Dil. To date, it is one of the most acclaimed drama serials on Hum TV. Her elaborate role allowed her to demonstrate her acting skills to the best. She transformed from a young vulnerable girl to an old strong woman in the serial, going through a turmoil of emotions as she made compromises for her family. Fans loved the chemistry between the actors so much that they appeared together in another play soon after. Sanem was a love triangle drama alongside Osman Khalid Butt and Maya Ali. However, it did not appeal to the audiences as much as Diyar-e-Dil.
Hareem Farooq continued with both movies and dramas together. She appeared in the Mehreen Jabbar directorial, Dobara Phir Se. Adding versatility to her career, she did a comedy movie, Parchi, in which she played the role of a female don.
Acting was just one part of Hareem’s larger-than-life dreams. At such a young age, she ventured into production. She co-produced the movie Janaan. Parchi was also her co-production. She also co-produced Heer Maan Ja, a romantic comedy. She played the female lead role in the movie. She also formed a company alongside her childhood friend, Imran Raza Kazmi, and Arif Lakhani, IHA Entertainment.
Diversifying further into her career, Hareem hosted several shows and events. She hosted the Hum Awards and Eid Show. However, Hareem holds the honor of hosting the 3rd PSL Opening Ceremony, held in Dubai. She is the first female Pakistani celebrity to grace the honor. Given her alluring charm and aura, Hareem Farooq also became the official spokesperson for Loreal Professional Pakistani in 2017.
Another feather in her cap, Hareem produced and acted in the first ever female-centered sports drama series in Pakistan, 22 Qadam. The serial aired on Green TV.
