Following the World Cup fiasco, batter Babar Azam of the Pakistan national team resigned on Wednesday as the team’s captain across all formats. Azam remarked, “I vividly remember the moment when I received the call from PCB to lead Pakistan in 2019” on X.
“I’ve had a lot of highs and lows on and off the field over the past four years, but I sincerely and passionately aimed to maintain Pakistan’s pride and respect in the cricket world,” he continued.
“Players, coaches, and management worked together to get us to the top spot in the white-ball format, but I would like to thank the passionate Pakistani cricket fans for their unwavering support throughout this journey,” Babar stated.
“I am leaving my position as Pakistan’s captain in all formats today. Although it’s a tough choice, I think this call is appropriate at this moment,” he remarked.
“I will continue to represent Pakistan as a player in all three formats,” the speaker continued. I’m here to lend my expertise and commitment to the team and the new captain. The 29-year-old cricket player continued, “I want to express my sincere thanks to the Pakistan Cricket Board for entrusting me with this significant responsibility.”

The meeting between Zaka Ashraf, the head of the PCB management committee, and Babar Azam resulted in the development. Babar Azam was called by PCB management committee chairman Zaka Ashraf for his poor performance at the 2023 ICC World Cup in India.
