As a result of Pakistan’s early exit from the 2023 Cricket World Cup, Babar relinquished his captaincy. A below par performance by Babar resulted in Pakistan failing to qualify for the semi-finals. There were nine matches in which he scored 320 runs, with an average of less than 40.
